Devlog #2 (9/5/2025)
Devlog 9/5/2025
Hello again! It's me, Alice, Director of Trails of Rebellion. Thank you for reading another devlog, especially four or so months after the last. We have been hard at work on the game, even with our smaller development team. This devlog aims to show quite a bit of visual progress made, a couple songs, and a recruitment call at the end, so please, stay tuned.
Before we start, though, we now have a discord server! Centralized discussion for ToR will be conducted here, alongside potential sneak peaks, and just generally having a place to speak with those interested in the project!
You can join through this link.
As a reminder, these assets may be subject to change.
2D Art
First, I'd like to showcase a bit of the UI that was made over this period of time. The UI you are about to see is joint work by both myself and Akatsuki. The menu containers, and icons were made by myself, all other UI functionalities were by Akatsuki

And here it is in action.
We're very proud of how it came out! Although I had to learn all of this in less than a week, but we will move forward regardless.
What is not pictured however are various icons for status effects, and buffs that were produced. Here, you can have some as a treat.
Additionally, within the menus, the renders for both Iris and Arnice have been finished by the lovely Clover!
That just about wraps up all the updates on the 2D front, now onto music!
Music
Because of the long wait since the last post, I'll be giving 3 songs to preview. Two of which are finished, one of which is a very early WIP.
Going for a sort of Flamenco style, this song was composed by Alex, and will later mirror the first major field area of the game.
The danger theme for the series that plays when characters reach critical health!
The last one, which is in a very early WIP, is...
I won't give much input on when or how this will be used, but the name may give you a good idea. I will say, no, we are not reviving Loewe.
Closing and Recruitment
There is a lot I wish I could have shown you! Our team has been making incredible progress, but it's kind of hard to show backend coding / functionality, or entire scripts for writing.
However, there is something I would like to bring attention to: that being we are currently searching for 3D Modelers to join our team.
At the moment, you may have noticed that we are using very simple test / default models, and we'd soon like to branch out from that, especially so we can show off more visuals and progress to everyone.
If you or anyone would like to apply to be a character or environment modeler, please refer to this application and consider applying! We'd massively appreciate it.
Regardless, I hope you enjoyed this blog post, and I hope you can look forward to the next one!
